In Nouvelle-Aquitaine, this bivouac is perched above a valley opening widely onto the Gironde estuary and gently sloping vineyards. The eye is immediately drawn to a stone cross opposite, linked to the legend of Charlemagne. Nearby, the Citadel of Blaye impresses with its ramparts overlooking the estuary, while Bourg-sur-Gironde charms visitors with its old streets and river viewpoints.
